A New Ride in Town: Clemson’s Skate Park Brings Energy to the Green Crescent Trail

There’s a new kind of energy rolling through our community—and you can hear it in the hum of wheels on smooth concrete.

The new Clemson Skate Park, built by the City of Clemson and located right along the Green Crescent Trail in Clemson Park, is already becoming a gathering place full of motion, laughter, and connection.

The Skate Park is intended for “all wheels” including skateboards, rollerblades, roller skates, scooters, bicycles, and even wheelchairs, making it more than a place to skate. It’s a community hub that shows what’s possible when we invest in spaces that bring people together.

Located at 114 Clemson Park Road, the new Clemson Skate Park is open and ready for some serious shredding.

A Natural Fit on the Trail

Placing the skate park on the Green Crescent Trail couldn’t be a better match. The trail has always been about connection—linking neighborhoods, schools, and everyday destinations in a safer, more enjoyable way. Now, with the skate park as a destination along the route, we’re seeing even more people drawn outside.

Kids, students, parents, and longtime residents are all finding their way here, whether on foot, bike, or board. This is exactly what a connected community looks like. Clemson City Engineer Nathan Hinkle says, “We are making significant investments in our parks to ensure they remain world-class, and the Green Crescent Trail is the perfect spine for that growth. The skate park brings a new level of energy to the trail, offering an inviting space to bring people from all over to Clemson.”

A Boost for Local Business

Projects like this don’t just create fun, they create opportunity. Local businesses like Cruz Outdoors, is a perfect example. As a supplier of skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles and e-scooters, they’re uniquely positioned to support this growing community of riders.

When more people discover skating, more people step into local shops, ask questions, and build relationships. That’s how small businesses grow alongside community investments. “It’s thanks to the City’s investment in the skate park and the Green Crescents work to make Clemson safer and more connected for pedestrians that a business like Cruz Outdoors can even exist,”says Brandon Cruz, owner of Cruz Outdoors.

All ages are enjoying the new skate park and looking forward to more enhancements by the City of Clemson at the Clemson Park.

Bringing All Ages Outside

One of the best parts of the skate park? It’s not just for one group. You’ll see beginners on bikes practicing their first jump, experienced skaters dialing in tricks, parents watching from the sidelines, and curious neighbors stopping by to take it all in.

It’s active, it’s welcoming, and it’s shared. It strengthens the Green Crescent Trail not just as a path, but as a place.

“Outdoor spaces like the Clemson Skate Park build community,” says Heidi Williams, founding board member of the Friend of the Green Crescent non-profit. “The Green Crescent Trail’s mission has always been to make it easier for people to move and exercise while also connecting them to each other.”

The new Skate Park perfectly reflects that mission.

Keep the Momentum Going

If you haven’t visited yet, take a walk or ride down the trail and check it out. Bring a friend, bring your family, or just come see what’s happening. Every visit, every conversation, every moment spent out there helps grow this movement.

Thanks to the City of Clemson, community members, city leaders, and staff who helped make the Clemson Skate Park possible. We’re now on a path that’s becoming more connected, more active, and more fun for everyone.

Special thanks to Brandon Cruz from Cruz Outdoors for the photos and videos in this story.
